EDIX ED3 western bridle
Traditional craftsmanship meets personal style in the EDIX ED3 western bridle. This bridle is handcrafted from Argentinian cow leather and finished with hand-tooled detailing or beading. Choose your favourite leather colour and complete your bridle with an EDIX bosal and reins to suit your horse and your preferred way of riding.
Riding with a bosal
Combined with a bosal, the EDIX ED3 allows you to communicate through rein aids without using a bit. The bosal acts around the nose and lower jaw, working alongside your seat and leg aids to communicate direction and changes in pace. When you apply a rein aid, the bosal changes position and brings pressure into contact with the horse’s head. When you soften the reins, it should return to its resting position, releasing that pressure. Correct fitting, a suitable rein arrangement and light, well-timed aids are important for this release to work as intended.
A horse that is unfamiliar with a bosal needs time to learn these signals. The construction and fit of the bosal influence its action, so take time to choose and adjust the combination that suits your horse.
Using the EDIX ED3 with a bit
The EDIX ED3 can also be used with a bit. For this configuration, a chin strap is required. This is not included with the bridle and can be purchased separately.
EDIX Chara: a traditional rawhide bosal
The EDIX Chara is made from genuine rawhide braided around a rawhide core. The nose section is braided with 32 strands, while the remainder of the bosal uses 28 strands. The finer braiding creates a smoother contact surface over the nose. The Chara offers a traditional rawhide option to complete the western look of the EDIX ED3. Its action depends on the fit, the rein arrangement and the way the rider applies and releases each aid.
EDIX Alano: an alternative construction
The EDIX Alano offers an alternative to a traditional rawhide bosal. It combines a steel-wire core with soft covering materials and a braided polypropylene rope exterior. A stainless steel ring provides an attachment point for leather reins with snap hooks. The Alano’s side straps are positioned farther away from the eyes than those of a traditional bosal. Check their position on your horse to ensure that they sit comfortably and remain clear of the eyes.
As part of the EDIX Mix & Match collection, the Alano can be coordinated with EDIX cordeos and saddle pads.
