EDIX ED4 hackamore bridle
Comfortable fit and personal choice come together in the EDIX ED4 hackamore bridle. Its anatomical design provides a stable foundation for bitless communication, while interchangeable hackamore shanks allow you to choose the action that suits your horse and your way of riding. From a direct sidepull configuration to different degrees of leverage, the ED4 offers several possibilities within one bridle.
Anatomical comfort around the head
The softly padded, anatomically shaped headpiece is designed to follow the contours of your horse’s head and provide space around the sensitive base of the ears. Its adjustable construction allows the fit to be tailored to your horse. The wide, softly padded noseband provides a broad contact surface. Correct positioning remains important: it should rest on the supported part of the nose, clear of the softer cartilage below.
The carefully positioned cheekpieces and low-set throat strap help the ED4 remain securely in place while allowing room around the jaw. A stable fit helps keep the chosen hackamore correctly positioned and your rein signals consistent. The ED4 is designed to be worn without a browband. This allows the headpiece to be positioned according to your horse’s anatomy and gives the bridle a clean, open appearance. Matching anatomical EDIX browbands are available separately for riders who prefer one.
One bridle, different possibilities
The interchangeable shanks are a key benefit of the ED4 system. You can change the hackamore configuration while keeping the same fitted bridle, adapting the setup as your preferences or your horse’s training needs develop. Each design has its own action. The position of the attachment points, the adjustment of the noseband and chin strap, and the rider’s hands all influence how rein pressure is transmitted. Choose the combination for its suitability to your horse, rather than its appearance alone.
How does a hackamore work?
Hackamore shanks connect the headpiece, noseband, chin strap and reins. When the reins are attached below the pivot point, taking up contact rotates the shanks and creates leverage, applying pressure through the noseband and chin strap. The precise distribution depends on the design and adjustment. Shank length alone does not determine the strength of the action: the relationship between the upper and lower attachment points also matters. Light, well-timed aids and a clear release remain important with every configuration.

EDIX Hack-Q®: a distinctive action
The Hack-Q® uses a pivoting design intended to keep the cheekpieces stable during rein contact. Its moving rein rings also allow a small movement of the reins to create a preliminary signal through sound and vibration before firmer contact is taken up. The design combines a short leverage action with a release when the rider softens the reins. Correct strap adjustment is important for the intended movement and response. These features are specific to the Hack-Q configuration.

EDIX Halo® and Halo Pro®: sidepull and leverage options
The Halo® combines a compact stainless steel design with several rein attachment points. Its D-ring offers a direct sidepull option, while alternative attachment points allow leverage. A magnetic closure keeps the D-ring neatly positioned when it is not in use. The Halo Pro® adds an attachment opening, offering further options for separating sidepull and leverage aids, including a double-rein configuration. Both designs allow you to select the arrangement that suits your riding, with careful attention to fit and rein use.

EDIX Tiny and Love: compact designs
The EDIX Tiny has a small, lightweight design with four separate attachment openings. Its compact proportions provide a limited leverage action when the reins are attached to the lower opening. The EDIX Love also offers a short, compact design, finished with decorative heart-shaped cut-outs. Both are options for riders looking for a compact hackamore, with the final action depending on the complete setup.

EDIX Cross: a more pronounced leverage action
The EDIX Cross has four separate attachment openings in a cross-shaped design. Compared with the compact Tiny, its longer lower arm provides a more pronounced leverage action. The effect still depends on strap adjustment, the noseband and chin strap used, and the amount of rein tension applied.

EDIX Wheel: adjustable attachment options
The wheel-shaped EDIX Wheel offers several attachment positions, allowing different configurations with a more direct action or increased leverage. It is available in Standard, with an 80 mm diameter, and Mini, with a 60 mm diameter. The smaller version offers a more compact fit for ponies and horses with smaller or finer heads.
Completing your setup
Select your bridle, hackamore and reins as a complete combination, checking that the fittings and dimensions work together. EDIX shanks can also be used with many other suitable hackamore bridles where the attachment points and sizing match. EDIX recommends reins with buckle fastenings for a secure connection to the hackamores, except the Hack-Q model, which can be used with both. Before riding, check the fit, freedom of movement and release of your chosen configuration so that each aid can be given clearly and softened promptly.
