Description

The EDIX® ED4 Model Brightstar is an anatomically shaped, bitless bridle that can be combined with various types of hackamore shanks. It serves as the foundation of a modular system and can be used as:

  • EDIX Hack-Q® bridle – with the original Hack-Q shanks for limited leverage and pre-cue signals

  • EDIX Halo® bridle – with Halo shanks for sidepull action, optionally with mild leverage through the rings

  • EDIX Halo Pro® bridle – with Halo Pro shanks for sidepull action combined with leverage through the lower rein slot

  • Brightstar base bridle – used without EDIX shanks, but with your own hackamore

This flexibility allows you to fully tailor the bridle to the needs of you and your horse. The Brightstar model is crafted from durable Argentinian leather and features a hand-beaded noseband for a unique and stylish appearance.

Comfort-Focused Design

Like all bridles in the ED4 series, the Brightstar is designed with the horse’s comfort as the top priority. The anatomically shaped crownpiece is softly padded and specifically shaped to relieve pressure on sensitive areas such as the ears and TMJ joint. The design eliminates the need for a browband, keeping the front of the horse’s head completely free. The stable throat latch and well-placed cheek pieces ensure the bridle remains in position, even when using shanks. The wide, padded noseband guarantees even pressure distribution, combining comfort with elegance.

Why choose a saddle pad with inserts instead of a Why choose a saddle pad with inserts instead of a regular saddle pad? 🤔

A regular saddle pad mainly acts as a barrier between the saddle and your horse. A pad with inserts, however, is designed to actively support saddle fit, comfort and pressure distribution!

The removable inserts allow you to customize the pad to your horse's individual needs. Depending on the type and placement of the inserts, you can:

• Improve pressure distribution across the horse's back.
• Fine-tune saddle balance by adjusting the front, middle, or rear of the pad.
• Compensate for temporary asymmetry or changes in muscle development.
• Help maintain a more stable saddle position.
• Adapt the fit as your horse changes through training, rehabilitation or the seasons.

One of the greatest advantages is flexibility. Horses are constantly changing, building muscle, losing condition, or developing differently over time. Instead of immediately needing a different saddle, a pad with inserts allows you to make subtle adjustments while supporting your horse's comfort ❤️

When used correctly, a saddle pad with inserts can help create a more balanced saddle, promote greater freedom of movement, and contribute to a happier, more comfortable horse.

It's important to remember that an insert pad is not a substitute for a properly fitted saddle! Your saddle should always be correctly fitted to both horse and rider. A pad with inserts is designed to fine-tune the fit, making small adjustments that can enhance balance, improve comfort, and put the finishing touches on an already well-fitting saddle.

Yesterday we asked you whether you would classify Yesterday we asked you whether you would classify the EDIX Union and EDIX Fusion as a barebackpad or a saddle. The responses sparked some great discussions, and one question was:

"What do you, as EDIX, think?"

After giving it plenty of thought, we've decided to create a dedicated category on our website: BarebackSaddles.

Why? Because while the Union and Fusion offer the close-contact feeling and freedom that many riders love about bareback riding, they are much more than what is commonly considered a barebackpad.

When people think of a barebackpad, they often picture a simple piece of fabric with girth straps attached. The EDIX Union and Fusion are in a completely different league.

They feature:
✔️ A firm, supportive structure
✔️ A medium-deep seat for added stability and comfort
✔️ Excellent pressure distribution for both horse and rider

That last point is especially important. Unlike simple barebackpads, the Union and Fusion are designed to distribute pressure effectively, making them a much more horse-friendly option.

So, we've given them a category that we believe truly reflects what they are: BarebackSaddles.

What do you think? Do you agree with our choice? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
