Description
The EDIX® GP Velvet 8-Pocket Merino Pad is an anatomically shaped saddle pad featuring a foam base, high-quality Merino® sheepskin and a versatile 8-pocket system. The combination of natural materials, interchangeable inlays and a clear spinal channel supports a stable saddle position and helps distribute pressure evenly across the horse’s back.
Anatomical Shape and Adjustable Pressure Distribution
The anatomically shaped foam base provides support and contributes to the pad’s shock-absorbing properties. The soft sheepskin collar offers additional comfort around the withers.
The eight individual inlay pockets are positioned along the top and on both sides of the pad. These pockets come with felt inlays as standard and can be adjusted individually to improve the position of the saddle or provide additional pressure distribution. Depending on the horse’s conformation, the saddle being used and the desired effect, the felt inlays can be replaced or combined with other types of inlays. These are available separately in our webshop.
A strong nylon reinforcement is positioned where the rider’s leg moves against the pad while riding. This helps reduce friction and premature wear.
Specially Designed for Comfort
This pad is made using full Merino® sheepskin, rather than wool that has been shorn and subsequently woven. This allows the natural properties of the wool to be optimally preserved. Merino® sheepskin is soft, breathable and skin-friendly, with natural temperature- and moisture-regulating properties. For the best effect, we recommend placing the Merino® sheepskin directly against the horse’s back. The natural fibres help wick away perspiration while also contributing to pressure distribution and shock absorption.
All EDIX® Merino pads feature a specially designed clear spinal channel. The fleece is shorn shorter along the spine to help reduce pressure points and maintain sufficient clearance around the spinal area. The Merino® sheepskin covers a generous surface area, allowing the saddle panels to be fully supported by the fleece. This contributes to even pressure distribution and a comfortable fit on the horse’s back.
Thanks to its adjustable 8-pocket system, the EDIX® Merino GP Pad can be used beneath various brands of treeless saddles as well as traditional treed GP and jumping saddles. The correct combination and thickness of the inlays depends on the horse and the saddle being used. If in doubt, have the fit assessed by a qualified saddle fitter.
