EDIX Astha soft tree Icelandic saddle

The EDIX Astha is a stylish soft tree saddle, specially designed for the unique build and movements of the Icelandic horse. This saddle combines the advantages of a flexible soft tree with a monoflap design, allowing the rider to sit closer to the horse and experience optimal contact. Construction

The Astha is built on the EDIX Soft Tree: a flexible leather base with a fiber gullet plate and cantle, connected by multiple layers of supple yet strong leather. Technically still treeless, since it lacks a rigid tree, the Astha offers more stability than traditional treeless saddles. It shapes itself to the anatomy of the horse while distributing pressure evenly.

The monoflap design, crafted from high-quality soft leather, ensures direct contact and a precise leg position. The knee pocket with an extra large knee roll provides excellent support, while the low cantle with three attached D-rings offers practical options for attaching saddle bags or other accessories.

Thanks to the cutback front gusset, additional shoulder clearance is created which is ideal for the compact, muscular build of Icelandic horses. The Y-girthing system ensures even pressure distribution and keeps the saddle stable, even during the powerful gaits of this breed.

The EDIX Astha is available in black and brown, in sizes XS-16.5", S-17”, M-17.5”, L-18”.

Due to its adaptability, EDIX recommends purchasing the Astha in consultation with a certified EDIX dealer or saddle fitter. They can advise you on the best panel type for your horse and the most suitable knee blocks for your riding position. The dealer will also check the final fit and placement of the blocks.

For optimal stability during riding, EDIX recommends the use of a 3-part anatomical or crescent girth with partial elasticity. These girths move with the horse’s breathing and motion, maintain consistent and even pressure, and relieve the chest muscles and billet straps. In addition, we recommend combining the saddle with an EDIX 8-pocket pad, allowing fine adjustments in pressure distribution and saddle balance.
