The EDIX Calif mecate is a professional-grade mecate made from superior quality horsehair. This 5/8” mecate features a 6-strand twist around a horsehair core and measures 22 feet (670 cm) in length.
Specifically Designed for Refined Communication
The mecate offers a firm yet soft and refined feel in the hand. As horsehair can be quite sharp, riding gloves are recommended when using it. Horses respond significantly better to the unique feel of horsehair on their neck compared to many other materials. The prickly hairs protruding from the mecate allow for both clear and subtle aids, enabling refined neck reining. The use of traditional materials and patterns adds a stylish and authentic touch.
Depending on your horse’s size and conformation, the number of mecate wraps around the bosal should be adjusted for the best fit.

The EDIX Calif is available in natural-brown and natural-black, is 670 cm long, and is finished with a leather string in the matching leather colors of the EDIX ED3 Western bridle.
