Description
The EDIX Rodion combines the authentic appearance of a traditional Western saddle with the flexibility, close contact and freedom of movement of an EDIX BarebackSaddle.
Developed according to the same construction principles as the EDIX Union and Fusion, the Rodion has no rigid saddle tree. Its flexible construction follows the horse’s anatomy and movement while offering the rider a secure and comfortable seat.
Superior Pressure Distribution & Anatomical Fit
The Rodion is constructed from several layers of soft, flexible and pressure-distributing materials. Each layer has its own properties and together they help absorb and distribute the rider’s weight over a larger surface area. Without rigid, load-bearing components, the saddle can respond directly to the movement of the horse’s back. This supports freedom of movement through the back and shoulders while allowing the rider to follow the horse more naturally.
For optimal pressure distribution and sufficient spinal clearance, EDIX recommends combining the Rodion with a suitable EDIX 8-pocket pad. The inlays allow the complete setup to be adapted to the horse’s conformation, musculature and development.
Multiple Girthing Options
The EDIX Rodion features the innovative Circle Y-Girthing system. Its Y-shaped construction distributes girthing forces between the front and rear of the saddle, helping to maintain a balanced and stable position. The circular leather connector can be moved forwards or backwards, allowing the girth to follow the horse’s natural girth groove without changing the position of the saddle. This helps reduce unwanted pulling forces that could otherwise draw the saddle towards the shoulders or further backwards.
EDIX recommends using a fully or partially elastic girth with durable elasticity, allowing the girth to accommodate changes in the horse’s circumference during breathing and movement. The Rodion also features two additional D-rings. The separately available EDIX Rodion girth straps can be attached to these rings, allowing the saddle to be used with an English girth as well.
Optimal Grip & Natural Riding Feel
The Rodion is crafted from characterful buffalo leather with a natural, open-grain texture and refined Western tooling. This gives the saddle its authentic, rugged appearance while providing the rider with additional grip.
The combination of the textured leather, comfortable seat and flexible construction supports a secure position without restricting the rider’s movement. This preserves the close contact and natural riding feel that characterise the EDIX Bareback Saddle collection.
The EDIX Rodion comes with fenders as standard. Choose between short fenders, recommended for riders under 1.65 metres tall, and long fenders.
