Description

The EDIX Zyba is a classically styled, technically advanced dressage saddle, built on a flexible tree developed by EDIX.

Construction

The EDIX Zyba is built on a flexible tree made of PBP (Plastic Blended Polymer), a strong yet lightweight synthetic material that provides both lateral and diagonal flexibility while maintaining stability. The saddle is finished with premium leather and features a monoflap design for close contact with the horse. The wide gullet channel and dropped, wool-filled panels ensure even pressure distribution and allow free movement of the spine.

The velcro knee blocks are adjustable and can be positioned within the skirt pockets according to the rider’s preference. The standard panels are flocked with synthetic wool but can optionally be supplied with 100% natural sheep wool. All panels are designed to be modified or replaced by an EDIX saddle fitter. If the horse changes shape due to training, growth, or age and the original panels no longer fit, they can easily be replaced with new ones, ensuring continued optimal fit. Additionally, the Zyba features an interchangeable gullet system, allowing small changes in the horse's conformation to be easily accommodated.

Benefits for the Horse

  • Increased shoulder freedom for greater range of motion

  • Spinal clearance thanks to the wide gullet

  • Correct and even pressure distribution across the back

  • Lateral and diagonal flexibility due to the flexible tree

  • Interchangeable gullets to adjust tree width

  • Always adaptable through replaceable panels (by an EDIX saddle specialist)

Benefits for the Rider

  • Monoflap design for close leg contact and refined aid communication

  • Narrow twist and deep, soft seat

  • Fully adjustable velcro knee blocks

  • Adjustable stirrup bar position

  • 2-year warranty on the construction and 5-year warranty on the EDIX Flex Tree

Availability

The EDIX Zyba is available in standard black and brown leather, in sizes S–17”, M–17.5”, and L–18”.

Due to its versatile adaptability, EDIX recommends purchasing this saddle in consultation with a certified EDIX dealer or saddle fitter. They can advise you on the most suitable panels for your horse’s conformation and the ideal shape and placement of the knee blocks for your seat. The dealer also checks the final fit and stability of the saddle. For optimal stability during riding, EDIX recommends using an anatomical or crescent-shaped partially elastic girth. These triple-elasticated girths move with the horse’s breathing and motion, provide even pressure distribution, and relieve the chest muscles and girth straps. We also recommend using an EDIX 8-pocket pad, which allows for precise adjustment of the saddle’s pressure distribution and balance.

Choosing the right girth is just as important as c Choosing the right girth is just as important as choosing the right saddle!

Every horse is built differently, and understanding your horse's girth groove can make a huge difference in saddle stability, comfort, and freedom of movement.

🐴 Neutral Girth Groove (image 1)
A neutral girth groove is located approximately a hand's width behind the elbow and directly beneath the center of the saddle. This creates a balanced position with minimal forward or backward pull on the saddle.
✔️ Best choice: Straight or anatomical girths.

🐴 Forward Girth Groove (image 2)
Common in horses with a short ribcage and a deep, round barrel, such as many draft-type horses. The girth groove sits close behind the elbow, causing the girth (and often the saddle) to be pulled forward.
✔️ Best choice: Crescent-shaped girths, designed to keep the saddle in its correct position.

🐴 Backward Girth Groove (image 3)
Often seen in horses with a longer ribcage and an upward-sloping underline, such as many Thoroughbreds and sport horses. The girth groove sits further back, creating more backward pull on the saddle.
✔️ Best choice: A very lightly shaped girth, allowing the saddle to remain balanced without excessive backward pressure.

Finding the right girth isn't about choosing the most popular option, it's about choosing the one that matches your horse's unique conformation. The right combination of saddle and girth helps improve stability, comfort, and overall performance for both horse and rider 🤎

Why a saddle fitting consultation matters Choos Why a saddle fitting consultation matters

Choosing a saddle is about so much more than finding one that looks good! A professional saddle fitting consultation is the key to ensuring comfort, performance, and long-term well-being for both horse and rider.

A qualified saddle fitter can assess your horse's current condition, muscle development, and conformation, while also taking your position and riding goals into account. This helps determine which saddle is the best match for your unique combination.

At our brand, we offer a wide range of customization options:
✨ Different saddle models with different panel designs.
✨ Interchangeable panels within the same saddle type (FlexTree panels are interchangeable within the FlexTree range, SoftTree panels within the SoftTree range).
✨ Various seat depths.
✨ Different knee block options, with 1 model offering both short and long knee blocks.

Also with our treeless saddles, proper fitting is essential. The correct pommel size and a well-fitted saddle pad with adjustable shims make all the difference in achieving the perfect fit for your horse.
